Sun Chemical, Hp Indigo Collaborate to Develop Digital Coatings

Sun Chemical and HP Indigo have signed a collaboration agreement to develop cost-effective digital coatings which can help in the adoption of digital printing in the packaging industry.

The agreement with Sun Chemical and HP Indigo, a developer of digital printing for the packaging industry, can now lead in the development of comprehensive range of digital coatings.

These digital coatings are expected to support brand owners, converters and printers including overprint varnishes, and adhesives tailored to complement digital solutions.

Sun Chemical chief marketing officer Felipe Mellado said: “Digital printing in the packaging market offers brand owners a wide range of differentiation possibilities, making packaging more meaningful and an instrumental means of communication with customers.

“Printers and converters have already invested in digital presses and need specialist coatings and varnishes that would enable packaging applications to be printed digitally according to market requirements and standards.

“Sun Chemical brings a wealth of experience, insight and knowledge of the packaging industry and will work closely with HP Indigo to ensure the optimal performance of the digital coatings solutions.”

Recently, Sun Chemical said that it will showcase its packaging solutions at interpack 2017, held in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The products highlighted at the event included SunTag, an integrated sensor-taggant system for cartridges and refills; and a smartphone authentication solution incorporating the AuthentiGuard smartphone validation application from anti-counterfeit technology specialists DSS.

Sun Chemical recently, formed an alliance with SAPICI, to market SAPICI’s lamination adhesives portfolio under the Sun Chemical brand name.

Through the deal, Sun Chemical is authorised to market the lamination adhesives exclusively across the North and South Americas, the Middle East and North and South Africa. In Europe, the products will be sold under both the brand names of Sun Chemical and SAPICI.
