First Source Recalled 3,276 Plastic Tubs Due to Potential Salmonella Contamination

New York’s First Source has recalled 3,276 plastic tubs of Wegmans Organic Walnut Halves & Pieces due to potential Salmonella contamination.

The present recall was initiated as a result of a report received by the US FDA which detected Salmonella in specific grower lots of organic walnuts.

The recalled product is Wegmans Organic Food You Feel Good About Walnut Halves & Pieces, which was distributed to Wegmans' 85 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts.

The products were sold between January 27 and March 17, 2015. It has an expiry date till January next year.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Recently, US-based establishment Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets recalled Natural Grocers brand Organic Garlic Powder as it may have been contaminated with Salmonella.
