CDF, a manufacturer of drum, pail, intermediate bulk container and bag in box liners and flexible packaging, has received UN Certification for its combination package; fiberboard box with a plastic bag.
The company said that the UN-certified 20 liter bag-in-box, which has passed the design qualification testing, will provide the highest levels of protection for transporting hazardous products requiring class II and III packaging.
The bag-in-box packaging has undergone a total of four performance tests including drop, stacking, vibration and cobb water absorption. The tests were carried out by Ten-E Packaging Services.
As part of the box drop testing, each package was dropped from 47.2" at a different angle validating their ability to withstand potential breakage while the stacking test ensured the packages are strong enough that they do not collapse.
CDF's bag-in-box package also passed the stacking test at 303.9Kg for 24 hours and vibration tests at 4.1Hz for 1 hour.
Additionally, the cobb water absorption test, which was completed in 30 minutes, was intended to assess the quantity of water that can be absorbed by the surface of paper or board in a given time.
CDF sales and marketing vice-president Jay Waltz said: "Our development team did a tremendous job creating a product that meets the rigorous UN standards while offering unique value to our customers."
CDF provides form-fit and pillow styles of bag-in-box packages to meet the requirement for chemical, food, beverage and cosmetic applications ranging in size from 1 liter to 25 liters.
