China PV Makers Expect Demand to Revive in 2q15

China-based PV firms expect orders to significantly rebound in the second quarter of 2015 as domestic demand is expected to increase after the China government set a target total PV installation capacity of 17.8GWp for 2015, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

Due to decreased orders from Europe and Japan arising from the depreciation of their currencies, first-tier China-based PV module makers have seen capacity utilization drop to 70-80%, the sources said.

However, they expect installation of PV power-generating stations and rooftop systems around China to accelerate in May and demand will peak in the third quarter, the sources indicated.

Based on the timing, China makers' PV module shipments to the domestic market will begin to increase in the second quarter, the sources said.
