Taiwan-based TFT-LCD panel makers shipped 58.38 million large-size (9-inch and above) panels in the second quarter of 2016, growing 18.1% on quarter and 0.8% on year, according to Digitimes Research.
TV panels accounted for 30.65% of the shipments, notebook-use units for 33.37%, monitor-use units for 22.19%, panels used in 9-inch and above tablets for 11.13%, units used in other devices for 2.66%, Digitimes Research indicated.
AU Optronics (AUO) shipped 27.110 million panels, consisting of 7.176 million TV units, 10.220 million notebook-use units, 7.234 million monitor-use units and 2.480 million tablet-use units. Innolux ranked second with shipments of 27.090 million panels consisting of 10.720 million TV units, 9.260 million notebook-use units, 5.620 million monitor-use units and 1.490 million tablet-use units. Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) and HannStar Display shipped 2.130 million panels and 500,000 units respectively.
