Medication and supply management solutions provider Omnicell has introduced new guided packing software to increase packing accuracy of SureMed Multimed blister cards that improve patient adherence.
The SureMed by Omnicell Guided Packing software is intnded to increase pharmacists' accuracy in filling SureMed multiple medication blister cards.
The software will port with QS1 pharmacy information systems (PIS). The company expects to integrate the solution with additional systems later this year.
In addition to the guided packing software, Omnicell is also providing a perforated version of the SureMed blister card, which allows individual blisters to be separated for convenience and travel.

Guided packing software is said to support the use of perforated cards by offering a consolidated label that includes patient-specific information, color images of the medications and dosing instructions on each individual blister.
The software offers a web-based application, which can be accessed from virtually any workstation in the pharmacy to improve the process for hand packing the SureMed blister cards.
It provides bar coded workflow that enhances accuracy of medication dispensing and visual fill matrix that identifies medication placement instructions, as well as packing error information.
The software also allows the consolidated labeling information to be printed directly onto the SureMed guided packing blister card.
