If you want to see how your drinking affects your blood alcohol level, this Bluetooth breathalyser is for you.
Like a standard breathalyser, you blow into the Alcohoot Edge and it tells you your blood alcohol level. That way you can see if it's safe to drive, or if you should find another way to get home. But it also syncs to an accompanying app to give you a load more features.
It keeps a record of your test history, so you can see how often you've drunk more than the legal driving limit. (If you don't want to know, maybe it's time to cut down a little.) Plus it has handy ways to keep you out of danger. The app can connect to ride-sharing apps so you can get home easily without taking any risks. And it'll give you a list of local restaurants, so you can soak up some of the booze with some food.
The firm claims it uses the same breath analysis technology found in law enforcement devices, though it doesn't detail exactly what that is. It's powered by a lithium-ion battery, and charges up via micro-USB. The mouthpiece is replaceable too, so it's more hygienic for sharing with friends.
It's almost hit its $25,000 funding goal and still has almost a month left. Pledge $60 (£42) and it can be yours on an early bird. If successful, it will ship in August.
