Apple's revamped line of MacBook Pro laptops -- its first major update in more than four years -- will keep the standard headphone jack as one of the ports. That means you'll be able to plug in any pair of headphones -- except for Apple's Lightning earpods for the iPhone 7.
There was some concern that Apple would do away with the ubiquitous port after taking the risky move of excising it on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Consumers with the newest Apple phone have to wrestle with dongles or give up their existing headphones to work with the Lightning port instead.
This, however, puts Apple in the awkward position of supporting two audio input standards, one of which is tied to its own proprietary technology.
