Contract packaging specialist South Atlantic Packaging Corporation has acquired Prostar Packaging for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition forms a part of the company's strategy to become a $50m enterprise by focusing on acquisitions along with constant innovation.
Since its inception in 2006, Prostar Packaging has been offering order fulfillment, contract packaging, variety packaging solutions, copacking, and warehousing.
Prostar operates out of a 100,000ft2 facility in Pennsylvania and serves several clients including Del Monte, Big Heart Pet Brands and Benjamin Moore.
It is capable of providing shrink wrapping, labeling, bundling, liquid filling, kitting and distribution, besides many other services.
The addition of Prostar will enhance South Atlantic Packaging's presence in the food and beverage packaging space, besides providing additional capacity and equipment to grow throughout the mid-Atlantic region.
South Atlantic Packaging co-owner Steve Burns said: "The Pennsylvania operation has a state-of-the-art Zambelli LFT800/70 with dual lanes -- a piece of equipment that expands our company's capabilities.
"As we move into the future, we continue to look for possible acquisitions that can help us expand our customer base and capabilities."
Founded in 2000, South Atlantic Packaging employs 150 full-time and temporary employees in the Triad with the ability to increase significantly based on the production projects the company is running at the time.
South Atlantic Packaging has two Triad facilities with a total of 200,000ft2, and additional locations in Somerset, New Jersey.
The company's customer base includes Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart, Lowe's, Target, Home Depot, Gander Mountain, Orvis and many other retail stores.
