Gordon Exel, vice president of sales and marketing at Westport Innovations Inc., will become president of Cummins Westport Inc. in January, the company announced.
Exel will serve throughout 2014, the last of three years in which Westport can nominate the president of the joint venture with Cummins Inc., the company reported in a Dec. 18 statement.
"Gordon's experience with Cummins Westport and solid understanding of the customers and markets are key assets that will contribute to the ongoing success of Cummins Westport," Cummins Westport Chairman Ed Pence said in the statement. Pence also is vice president and general manager of Cummins' high-horsepower engine business.
Exel has worked for Westport and Cummins Westport for 10 years. Cummins Westport President Jim Arthurs will return to his senior position at Westport when Exel takes over.
Cummins Westport is a natural-gas heavy-duty engine maker and a joint venture of engine maker Cummins and natural gas-equipment manufacturer Westport. It is co-located with Westport's headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia.
