Uzbekistan’s capital city of Tashkent is once again gearing up to host the ninth international Uzbek Cotton and Textile fair on October 16 and 17, 2013.
Since 2005, the Uzbek Government has been regularly organizing the fair in the country on annual basis in association with the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC).
The fair is organized with a view to expand and diversify Uzbekistan’s cotton export destinations and to increase efficiency as well as optimize shipment of Uzbek cotton to the world market.
The Cotton Fair stimulates further development of market mechanisms in cotton trading and improves the business relations between Uzbek producers and its customers.
During the Cotton and Textile Fair, participants will get an opportunity to set up long-term cooperation in cotton trading and get familiar with the quality of Uzbek cotton as well as latest innovations in trade and logistics.
As part of the fair, “round tables” would be held to facilitate bilateral negotiations between Uzbek cotton exporters and consumers.
Discussions on the current problems and prospects for the world cotton market development would also be held during the event.
Leading international experts would be giving their views on ‘World cotton and textile market: demand and supply, prices and factors’; ‘Current state and prospects of production and marketing of cotton in Uzbekistan’; ‘New technologies to increase cotton competitiveness’; ‘World market of cotton textile: present and future’; and ‘Investment climate and foreign investors in cotton and textile industry of Uzbekistan’.
Uzbekistan each year produces nearly 3.5 million tons of raw cotton. About 95 percent of the cotton produced by the country is of medium varieties with fibre length of 32-33 mm, while the rest is long fibre cotton of length 36-39 mm.
