LED outdoor lighting, mainly LED street lamps and LED tunnel lamps, installed in China in 2014 had an estimated total market value of CNY14.7 billion (US$2.39 billion), growing on year by 22%, according to China-based research organization GG-LED Industry Institute (GLII).
There were about two million LED outdoor lamps installed around China in 2014, increasing on year by 20%, GLII said. As of the end of 2014, LED street lamps accounted for about 20% of all street lamps in China, GLII indicated.
Despite growth in installation volume and value of LED outdoor lamps, average prices for LED street lamps dropped from about CNY12/W in 2013 to below CNY10/W in 2014, GLII said. Due to steady decreases in component cost and increasing competition, LED street lamp prices will further drop in 2015, GLII indicated.
Of LED street lamps produced in China in 2014, an estimated 50% were shipped in the domestic market and the remaining 50% exported, GLII said. Dongguan KingsunOptoelectronics, Delta Greentech (China), Jingri Lighting Technology and Dongrong Electronic Technology (Huizhou) were leading China-based LED street lamp makers in terms of export in 2014.
