Samsung Galaxy S8 Active Gets Wi-Fi Certification

Samsung's next handset in its 2017 lineup, a ruggedised version of the Galaxy S8 called the Galaxy S8 Active, is one step closer to completion.

A report from SamMobile confirms that the handset just received certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance, which is a sure-fire sign that the handset is on track for its rumoured release date of June.

The handset's specs are likely to be close to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+, with a few tweaks to toughen it up for heavy-duty use. It's tipped to come with a bigger 4000mAh battery and MIL-STD-810G certification to give it advanced damage protection.

It should also sport the same IP68 water resistance of its two predecessors.

The Wi-Fi certification confirmed a couple of other details, which are that the smartphone will run on Android 7.0 Nougat, and comes with the model number SM-G892A.
