With the aim of empowering the textile and clothing industry of Pakistan with more knowledge and enabling the entrepreneurs to make smarter choices in order to reap the benefits from the expected European Union (EU) Generalised System of Preferences Plus (GSP+) status, the Punjab government and Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT), is organising the International Textile and Clothing Conference (ITC) 2013 on December 9 in Lahore.

During a press conference, Ali Naveed Pirzada, director general of PBIT, informed the conference would be held under the theme Pakistan’s Industry—Integrated and Collaborating for Today and Tomorrow, and would have prominent speakers from Pakistan and across the world, exchanging ideas regarding the latest trends in textiles sector.

The conference is organised as a unique initiative for promoting and empowering the textile and clothing sector of Pakistan as well as establish universally recognized performance benchmarks in the Pakistani textile sector, while extending a networking platform for various stakeholders in the industry, he added.

The textiles conference would be divided into three chapters - General Business Environment, Innovation and Manufacturing Excellence. Each chapter will consist of several independent sessions with the keynote speakers, who alongside discussion of key issues concerning the industry, would also be available for one on one session and discussion.

ITC 2013 will also provide a unique opportunity for investors, buyers, service providers, suppliers and students to benefit from the expertise of the best minds in the industry. Besides, it is also expected to meet participation from representatives of leading importers as well as local and global organizations like Pakistan Trade Mission Tokyo and National Chambers, Textiles Ministry and Trade Associations.
