RPC Superfos Has Begun Production at Its New Manufacturing Facility in Winchester

Denmark-based injection moulded plastic packaging firm RPC Superfos has begun production at its new manufacturing facility in Winchester, Virginia.

The plant began with the production of UniPak for pastry company Poppies Intl.

Equipped with new European moulding machines, robotics and moulds, the new unit will cater to the packaging needs of the firm's US and global clientele.

The production unit has both dual- and tri-injection units with the capacity for simultaneous moulding containers and lids.

RPC Superfos is currently producing flat square UniPak 1.5 litres pack for Poppies, and will expand to bigger size packs in the coming months.

UniPak is claimed to have a protective collar, with ability to withstand hot filling and blast freezing.

Poppies Intl quality manager Heather Aycock said: "Now that we can have UniPak produced in the US, we save time and can respond with more flexibility to market demand for our frozen chocolate covered cream puffs.

"To us, it is very important that our packaging provider offers smooth and efficient logistics, and RPC Superfos meets our requirements.
