According to the date released by German KBA (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt) recently, German new car registrations were 192,090 vehicles in January, declined 8.6% year on year compared to January, 2012.
Among the different car makers, Volkswagen, ranked the first place, sales were 43,358 vehicles, down 13.3% year on year and occupied 22.6% of the market shares. Followed by Mercedes-Benz, it grew 3.1% year on year to 19,641 vehicles, accounted for 10.2% of the market shares. BMW, the third one, increased 10.6% to 16,368 vehicles, which market shares were 8.5%.
In 2012, German car sales were 3.08 million vehicles, declined 2.9% year on year compared to 3.17 million vehicles in 2011. It still was the largest car market in Europe, ranked the 5th place in the world after China, USA, Brazil and Japan.
