14,000 lamps were supplied and installed in parts of the Olympic Stadium

The company, which as a worldwide partner is allowed to talk about its involvement as a supplier, has partnered closely with host cities going back as far as the Turin Winter Olympics in 2006, delivering a variety of solutions, including lighting, energy generation technology and smart metering.

According to a company statement, GE technology contracts in all official London 2012 Olympic Games competition venues and commercial buildings generated a total revenue of $100m.

Its lighting division, GE Lighting, said it has supplied 25,000 LED modules and the corresponding LED drivers for the London 2012 Olympic Park. 14,000 lamps were also supplied and installed in parts of the Olympic Stadium, but this did not include the arena floodlighting.

The lighting division also supplied the architectural lighting products for the London 2012 Field Hockey Centre, which has the capacity to accommodate 15,000 people during the Games.

In addition to projects on the Olympic Park, GE Lighting also recently partnered with EDF, the Mayor of London and the City of London Corporation to supply Tower Bridge with a new LED lighting system.

Contracts at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics also contributed to the $1 billion figure.
