It comes with a dock at the top with a Lightning connector as used on the iPhone 5 and the latest iPods. The connector swivels, making it less susceptible to being snapped off, and the dock looks like a small depression in the top of the unit, which maintains the gadget's aesthetics.
There are discrete touch controls for volume and at the back an on/off switch and connectors for power, 3.5 mm line-in and ethernet. The Z2 measures 180mm by 320mm by 100mm and weighs just 2.6kg.
I would have liked to see the power supply incorporated inside the Z2 rather than being external and contributing to the general electronics clutter.
Getting sound from the Z2 is as simple as plugging in your iPhone 5. The Z2 can also play wirelessly using Apple's AirPlay technology.
Sonically, the Z2 will fill a medium-sized room with music and the bass response is surprisingly good.
