UK-based manufacturer and retailer of premium frozen ready meals Cook has selected Danish food packaging firm Faerch Plast to supply its crystalline polyethylene terephthalate (CPET) trays in the country.
Cook has been in association with Faerch Plast for the last 12 years.
However, the latest contract was based on Faerch's ability to develop Frost CPET material that can withstand both cold and hot temperatures ranging from -4F to 430F.
Cook operational procurement head Tony Mayer told foodbev.com that the company considered moving more of the CPET business across after Faerch Plast developed the CPET for frozen meal concepts especially.
"The contract with our previous supplier came to an end last year, so we invited other packaging companies to submit tenders. We're pleased to say that Faerch Plast won the tender," Mayer added.
Another reason for selecting Faerch was that the trays were manufactured at a plant in Durham with flexible turnaround times.
