iPhone 5 sales are affecting Apple's suppliers. Sales are running at 11 million a month - about half of the initial build plan of 62 million a quarter.
Now, iPhone 5's display suppliers are said to have had their Q1 orders halved.
One supplier, Japan Display is said to be cutting its production by up to 80% this quarter and another screen supplier, Sharp, which has a dedicated factory for iPhone 5 screens, has said it will cut output by 40% Q1 on Q4. iPhone 5's third screen supplier is LG.
The initial build plan was for 65 million iPhones a quarter. It is reported that this has been halved to 32.5m. In Q1 2012, 36 million iPhones were sold.
Smartphone market
In Q1 2012 Apple had 23% smartphone market share. In Q3 2012 it had 14.6% market share.
In Q3 2010, Samsung had 8.8% market share. In Q3 2012 it had 31.3% market share.
Meanwhile Apple shares have dropped to under $500 from their $700 peak. Already the post-Jobs era is looking problematic for Apple.
