Inventec chairman Richard Lee, at Xiaomi's product launch conference in Taiwan, pointed out that the company is expected to see about 100 million ODM/OEM product shipments in 2015, up 42% from 70 million units in 2014.
Lee pointed out that Inventec has a tight partnership with Xiaomi and will cooperate with Xiaomi's affiliate Kingsoft to integrate its translation software Dr.eye into Kingsoft's software platform. Inventec is also looking to provide its storage cloud solutions for Kingsoft's cloud computing platform with details still being discussed.
Inventec is also the manufacturer of Xiaomi's smartphones, over-the-top (OTT) devices and tablets.
Lee expects Inventec's smart home gateway products for Internet of things (IoT) market will achieve shipments of 500,000 units in 2015, while tablet and thin client PC shipments will reach three and five million units, up 50% and 500% on year, respectively in the year.
Inventec's all-in-one PC shipments will grow from 2.3 million units in 2014 to 2.6-2.7 million units in 2015, PC-related products including notebooks will grow from 20 million units in 2014 to 24-25 million units in 2015.
Smartphone shipments are expected to grow significantly from 30 million units in 2014 to 50 million units in 2015, contributed mainly by Xiaomi's orders. Xiaomi is looking to ship 100 million smartphones in 2015 with Inventec supplying half of the volume.
As for servers, Lee expects the business to achieve a double-digit percentage growth in revenues in 2015, but the growth is unlikely to surpass 20%. The company's solar product line is estimated to reach revenues of NT$20 billion (US$628.83 million) in 2015 and will achieve a profitable operation.
