APTMA Has Formed Working Sub-Committees to Address Textile Industry Issues

Aiming to address the issues of the textile industry of Punjab, the Regional Managing Committee of All Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Association (APTMA) has formed working sub-committees.

The Committee in its very first regional meeting approved the formation of nine sub-committees, which include committees namely Raw Materials, Energy-Gas and Electricity, Sales Tax/Customs Regional Sub-Office, APTMA Welfare Foundation, Public Relations and Law and Order, Faisalabad and Multan, as well as Administration and New Membership, reports The Nation.

The committees would focus on addressing textile industry issues like raw-material availability, energy crisis and sales tax refunds, in order to ensure smooth and uninterrupted running of the textile industry of the region.

The committees would be spearheaded by highly experienced members of APTMA, who would carry out deliberations to put forward workable solutions in order to resolve the issues hampering smooth working of the industry.

Noting that around 70 percent of the textile industry in Pakistan is concentrated in the energy crisis hit Punjab region, the APTMA Punjab chairman SM Tanveer said ensuring continuous gas supply for the textile sector-based Captive Power Plants (CPPs) remains to be the main agenda of the new administration.

Mr. Tanveer hence asked the Energy committee members to extend workable recommendations to address the issue.

He also added that issues like disturbed law and order situation and delay in sales tax refunds are also hampering viability of textile industry, which also calls for urgent attention of the concerned committees.
