Berlin Packaging, through its subsidiary Bruni Glass, has acquired H. Erben, a UK-based supplier of closures, packaging, and packaging equipment for the food and drinks sectors.
The acquisition is a part of Berlin Packaging’s efforts to extend significant operation and position in Europe and Africa.
Assets acquired from Erben include its operations in South Africa as well as California Capsules business. The firm also operates www.TheBottleJarStore.co.uk for convenience quantities.
Berlin Packaging chairman and CEO Andrew Berlin said: “Adding Erben to the Berlin enterprise shows our commitment to acquire the best businesses in the packaging industry along with our proven approach to organic growth.”
With the completion of Erben purchase, the combined firm has offices in Italy, France, Spain, and the UK, as well as in South Africa, China, and across North America. H. Erben will now be operated as Bruni Erben, a Berlin Packaging Company.

The combined company will have 200-person sales force will focus on all markets that use rigid packaging, including food, beverage, wine and spirits, pharmaceutical and nutraceutical, personal care, household care, and industrial.
Berlin said Erben customers can avail themselves of a much larger European impression, an array of containers (in glass, plastic, and metal) and closures, and its suite of income-boosting services that are offered at no charge in exchange for new packaging business.
The services include Studio One Eleven and Bruni Glass structural and brand design as well as quality consulting.
The deal marks second acquisition for Berlin in Europe and eighth overall since 2010.
