Beginning Fall 2015, NASDAQ-listed pure-play children's specialty apparel US retailer, The Children's Place will have opened its first Indian store.
Children's Place has stepped in to Asia’s third largest economy by entering into a franchise agreement with Arvind Lifestyle Brands Limited to open stores in India. Children's Place said it plans to open 50 stores in India, over a period of time.
Children's Place designs, contracts to manufacture, sells and licenses to sell fashionable and high-quality merchandise. The retailer operates 1,113 stores in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico and 54 stores in other countries.
Arvind Lifestyle is a subsidiary of Arvind Limited, which is one of the largest global producers of denim fabric. Alongside its own portfolio of 12 apparel brands, Arvind Lifestyle has licensing relationships with many US and European brands.
Speaking on the partnership, Sanjay Lalbhai, CMD at Arvind Limited said, "We are delighted to bring The Children's Place to India, which will be the first of its kind children's retail format and will be a one-stop-shop for children sizes 0 to 14.”
