Heavy investment in digital technology over the last year has allowed Belmont to print digitally directly onto corrugated boxes, allowing the Wigan firm to produce ultra-short run transit and shelf-ready packaging.
The service is being aimed at both suppliers of niche products and bigger players running promotions or wishing to create limited editions or trial batches of their packs.
Belmont's offer is being pitched at volumes of as low as a single unit up to around 10,000 units.
Belmont managing director Sean Moloney said: "Recent years of retail growth and sophistication have not only seen average packaging batch sizes reduce, but also a growing need for quick turnaround of products to store."
He said that the new print-on-demand service allowed Belmont to "meet and exceed" these requirements and to "transform the appearance of goods on the shelf and support food and beverage manufacturers' sales growth across a much wider retail landscape".
An early adopter of the technology has been Roosters Brewery in North Yorkshire.
The firm ordered just 400 corrugated cases to launch three new bottled beers.
Managing director Ian Fozard said: "Having the flexibility to order just a few hundred high-quality, printed corrugated presentation boxes for our new range of fine beers is the ideal solution for getting the products to market more quickly, helping us to target individual sectors such as wholesalers and off-licences much more effectively."
