Chinese Companies Will Be Participating for The First Time in Texfair 2013

Chinese companies will be participating for the first time in TexFair 2013, the expo for textile machinery, accessories and spares, to be held in the southern Indian city of Coimbatore from December 13-16, 2013.

The Chinese companies have booked seven stalls, S Dinakaran, chairman of the organizing committee of TexFair 2013, told reporters, while apprising about the forthcoming expos being organized by the Southern India Mills Association (SIMA).

Besides China, textile companies from Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the UK are also going to participate in the fair and showcase their products, he added.

Overall about 210 exhibitors are expected to participate in the fair and display their products and services in 240 stalls.

Objectives of TexFair 2013 are: to provide a platform for the stake holder to zero in their investments and expenses prudently, to showcase their inventions and cost effective items and other products, to enable the technocrats and shop floor technicians to update their knowledge on the latest technology and create an awareness on cost cutting, and to encourage micro, small and medium entrepreneurs also to showcase their products and get exposure to the market.

According to SIMA, the Indian textile and clothing industry has embarked on a vision of capturing market worth US $ 220 billion by the year 2020 with an annual growth rate of 11 percent. This would require an estimated 29.25 million spindles, 109,000 shuttleless looms, 99,000 automatic shuttle looms, 59,000 plain looms, and 39,000 semi-automatic looms.

In addition, the knitting sector would require an estimated 9,400 machines, while the garment sector would need 1,450,000 machines. Hence, the TexFair would be an ideal platform for the manufacturers of textile machinery, spares & accessories to showcase and market their products, SIMA said.

The ‘Farm to Finish Expo 2013’ would be held parallel to the Tex Fair from December 13 to 15, SIMA chairman T Rajkumar informed the media.

The textile mills in Tamil Nadu consume about 50 percent of cotton produced in India, but the state’s cotton production is only around 500,000 bales of 170 kg each, hence SIMA would focus aggressively on improving cotton cultivation in the state, Mr. Dinakaran said.

SIMA is organizing a high-level workshop on ‘Harnessing Cotton Cultivation Capabilities’ on December 14, followed by four technical sessions, including a panel discussion on ‘Cotton Vision 2020’, and a half-day workshop on cotton cultivation and agronomic practices for cotton cultivation on December 15.
