Setting up a base in Malaysia could help Pakistani textile entrepreneurs gain utmost benefit in Asean countries, Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan Hasrul Sani Bin Mujtabar has said.
Setting up a joint venture textile unit in Malaysia would not only help Pakistani entrepreneurs to enhance their trade activities, but also provide them with better opportunities to launch their products in Asean countries, Mr. Mujtabar said while addressing the members of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
Setting up textile business in Malaysia would also help the entrepreneurs get 10 year visa and tax relaxations, he said.
Formation of a business forum could play a major part in enhancing trade between the two countries, the official said and assured SCCI members that to help the business community their visa’s would be processed on the same day in case of urgency.
SCCI President Sheikh Abdul Majid said to strengthen the mutual trade ties between the two countries, it is important to hold one-to-one meeting of entrepreneurs of both the nations. For this, it is necessary for both the countries to simplify their visa procedure, to facilitate meetings of businessmen of both the countries.
Pakistan contributed US$ 257 million to the last year’s bilateral trade volume of US$ 2.8 billion, thus the balance of trade remained in favour of Malaysia, Mr. Majid said.
He voiced optimism that the meeting would help in taking the understanding between the entrepreneurs of the two nations to an enhanced level and thus lead the way for boosting trade and economic ties.
