The Number of Inquiries Increased Slightly in The Medium Staple Range in The German

The number of inquiries increased slightly in the medium staple range in the German cotton market during the week and in contrast to last week, quotations remained relatively stable, a report from the Bremen Cotton Exchange reveals.

Prices have been discussed briskly, but since many spinning mills still did not seem to have an urgent need they continued to await the further price development hoping that the projected lower prices for the new crop will come over on the market”, the report adds.

“Therefore the number of closed contracts did not yet rise in the domestic market”, it observes.

Contracts for medium staple cotton were concluded for; Central Asia for the fourth quarter of 2014, West Africa for prompt and the fourth quarter of 2014, Greece for the first quarter of 2015 and Spain for the fourth quarter of 2014 as well as the first quarter of 2015.

The report concludes by saying that the long staple and extra long staple cotton market remained quiet and just a few inquiries were reported, while no sales were observed. (AR)
