S&P of California Is Recalling 1800 Jars of Its Su-Nun Crush Roasted Thai Red Pepper

S&P of California is recalling 1800 jars of its Su-nun Crush Roasted Thai Red Pepper due to possible Salmonella contamination, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall was initiated after a routine sampling by FDA revealed that the product contained the bacteria.

The product being recalled is 'Super Hot' in flake format, which was sold in 10.58oz. clear plastic jar with a red and yellow label and red plastic screw-on lid. It bears bar code 659613000770.

This product was distributed to grocery stores in Los Angeles, Bell and Long Beach, Illinois, Arizona, Nebraska and New York between July 2012 and October 2012.

There have been no reported reactions associated with the recalled product.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of food contaminated with this bacterium may cause salmonellosis, a foodborne illness. In young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems, salmonellosis may result in serious and sometimes deadly infections.
