Chamberlain Farms Takes Back May Be Contaminated Watermelons

Chamberlain Farms,a produce supplier based in Owensville,Indiana,whose cantaloupes have been linked to a Salmonella outbreak in August 2012 is recalling watermelons as they may be contaminated with a different strain of Salmonella.

The company noted that the watermelons distributed over this past growing season could have been contaminated with Salmonella newport.

Outside Indiana,these watermelons were sold at Schnucks stores in Missouri,Illinois,Wisconsin and Iowa.The watermelons can be identified by a sticker-Indian Hills-Product of USA.Consumers who have purchased the product bearing the sticker have been asked to return it to the store for a full refund.

However,the company said that the watermelons sold at five Indiana Schnucks stores do not bear the sticker.Consumers can return these products to the store for a full refund.

The watermelons sold in Schnucks stores before 7 September 2012 are subject to this recall.
