Swedish multinational food packaging and processing company Tetra Pak has acquired Minneapolis-based Filtration Engineering company, a US based membrane filtration technology company for the dairy and cheese industries.
The terms and conditions for the acquisition were undisclosed.
Founded in 1982, the Filtration Engineering is a privately-held company, which specializes in the design, construction and commissioning of membrane filtration systems used in the areas of milk, whey and specialised waste treatment systems.
According to Tetra Pak, the acquisition combines Filtration Engineering's spiral membrane technology with its existing ceramic membrane systems portfolio, with an aim to expand into dairy, cheese and other processing applications.
Tetra Pak Processing Systems executive vice president Tim High said the firm's acquisition of Filtration Engineering strengthens its portfolio of products, solutions and services for dairy and cheese applications as well as provides us with additional knowledge and competence.
