Taiwan's Department of Health (DOH) has announced that the initial tests conducted on baby milk formula imported from New Zealand have not shown any traces of potentially hazardous substance dicyandiamide (DCD).
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) initiated testing of the milk formula samples on 26 January 2013 after reports emerged that it contained low levels of DCD.
FDA director-general Kang Jaw-jou was quoted by Focustaiwan.tw. as saying that the regulatory's laboratory is double-checking some of the samples and expects the results to be available soon.
"We will not order a recall of New Zealand dairy products unless the final test results show some abnormal results," Kang added.
However, New Zealand clarified that no other country has currently recalled its dairy products due to DCD contamination and expects this issue to be resolved soon.
