Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports amounted to 156,517 mt in July this year, decreasing 7.8 percent compared to June and down 6.2 percent year on year, according to data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of the iron and steel scrap imports was $61.9 million in July, rising 15.9 percent compared to June this year and up 0.9 percent compared to the same month of 2012.
Pakistan's scrap imports in the July 2012-June 2013 period amounted to 1.8 million mt, increasing 11.6 percent compared to the same period one year earlier. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports was $654 million, rising 19.3 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's iron and steel imports in July amounted to 108,160 mt, decreasing by 17.9 percent on year-on-year basis and down 52 percent compared to the previous month. The country's iron and steel imports in the July 2012-June 2013 period totaled 2.2 million mt, increasing by 21.3 percent year on year. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel imports was $1.6 billion, rising 15.4 percent year on year.
