According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the second quarter of the current year Turkey's rebar (including round bar) exports increased 4.7 percent over the first quarter but declined 7.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, amounting to 2.1 million mt. In the first half this year, Turkey's rebar exports stood at 4.1 million metric tons, down 5.95 percent year on year, while the total revenue from these exports amounted to $2.4 billion, decreasing by 13.6 percent as compared to January-June 2012.
In June this year, Turkey's rebar exports to the Middle East decreased by 23.2 percent compared to May, and were down 11.5 percent year on year, amounting to 352,937 mt. However, in the second quarter of the year Turkey exported 1.2 million mt of rebar, increasing by 4.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
