Ingenico, leading worldwide provider of payment solutions, announced it will support JCB in the development and deployment of its new J/Speedy EMV contactless technology by enabling J/Speedy on Ingenico’s Telium 2 platform. JCB is the only global payment brand based in Japan offering a comprehensive range of brand services to over 24 million merchants and 80 million card members around the world.
Ingenico and JCB are now partners for the development, integration and the international deployment of J/Speedy, JCB’s contactless payment solution, starting mid-2014, to provide a simple, fast, and convenient way to pay. This technology has been designed for environments where throughput speed is critical, such as supermarkets, convenience stores, and fast food restaurants, where consumers simply tap their card or mobile phone on a contactless payment.
“With our strong payment acceptance terminal coverage, we are very happy to enable JCB to deploy its latest contactless payment standards globally. With this partnership, we will enable merchants to accept a new payment method while supporting JCB to ease and accelerate consumers’ shopping experience at the point of sale” declared Jacques Behr, EVP EMEA, Ingenico.
Tac Watanabe, EVP and the head of Brand Infrastructure & Technologies of JCB, commented: “This partnership, with a global leader such as Ingenico, will accelerate the development and deployment of J/Speedy worldwide and will provide Ingenico’s customers a simple, fast and secure payment solution. It is definitely a big step forward for us to have Ingenico incorporate the J/Speedy kernel onto their global terminal platform”.
