China's benzene imports surpassed 100,000 mt in September, more than doubling month on month to 128,344 mt, data released Tuesday by the General Administration of Customs showed.
The figure was also up from 40,046 mt in September 2012.
The jump in benzene imports in September was the result of the arrival of cargoes purchased by Chinese buyers in July and August. Buyers were actively seeking cargoes as imported prices were attractive.
Asian benzene prices averaged $1,295.68/mt FOB Korea in September, up $38.85/mt or 3.1% from August, according to Platts data.
