Munich American Reassurance has introduced new key enhancements to its EDGE Life and Disability Income (DI) underwriting manuals, during the Association of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU) 12th Annual Conference.
The manuals' enhancements include a new tumor calculator, updates to the auto racing and mountain climbing sections and a new section on chronic pain.
Munich American Reassurance Company Underwriting and Medical Services vice president Bill Moore said that the tumor calculator enhancement to EDGE Life underwriting manual will support clients in the risk assessment of applicants who have had prostate cancer or melanoma.
"And, our continued research will allow us to supplement the calculator with ratings and additional cancers in future EDGE releases," Moore added.
Munich Re Canada (Life) assistant vice president and chief underwriter Marylou Dunn said, "The new auto racing and mountain climbing sections have been completely revamped with comprehensive ratings grids and reference articles which encompass a wide range of racing and climbing activities."
The mountain climbing updates involves updated technical information and a glossary defining the various types of climbing, Dunn added.
The EDGE DI underwriting manual comprises a new section on chronic pain, and updated sections on intervertebral disc disease, lumbosacral and cervical soft tissue injury and pregnancy and complications.
