Independent testing laboratory in the US Westpak has announced an additional 5,000ft2 expansion of its Product & Package Test Laboratory in San Diego, bringing the total to a 25,000ft2.
According to the company, the addition will give it capacity for more environmental test chambers, hydraulic vibration tables, loose load vibration tables as well as compression machines.
Westpak production manager Aaron Suarez said the company will be able to offer better possible lead time to its clients for large quantities of package validation, by having the additional testing equipment capacity.
"This additional capacity is significant as industry standards are getting more specific and regulatory agencies are expecting to see larger sample sizes for distribution testing," Suarez said.
Westpak test engineers can also review and develop medical device package validation protocols and test plans, as well as the required accelerated and real time aging required of medical packaging.
