UK-based packaging company Macfarlane Packaging has launched what they claim to be the country’s first ‘letterboxable’ range of packaging.
This new range of packaging has been made to fit the size of letterboxes so that they can be delivered even if the customers are not at home. The range includes bubble envelopes, postal bags, mailing sacks and cardboard wraps and measures 260mm x 45mm to fit a standard UK letterbox.
The company says that the product was the direct outcome of a survey by One Poll Market Research for Macfarlane Packaging which concluded that the biggest irritant for online shoppers was when their purchases are sent in packaging that is too big to fit in their letterboxes.
The survey polled about 1000 consumers, out of which about 21% said that having to pick up parcels or rearrange delivery because of inappropriately sized packaging bothered them. Owing to moe than a fifth of the respondents citing this as an irritant, this was considered to be the biggest source of annoyance for customers.
Another research from the Consumers' Association revealed that one out of four customers was dissatisfied with the delivery service they receive from a few of the leading internet retailers.
Speaking about the new range, Macfarlane Packaging marketing director Laurel Granville said: "Everyone knows how annoying it can be to arrive home to the dreaded 'sorry we missed you' card behind the front door. It's even more frustrating when the package contains something that could easily have been popped through your letterbox if it had been appropriately packaged.
"Macfarlane's new "Letterboxable" range means senders can be certain that their packages will easily fit through a standard sized letterbox first time, every time."
Macfarlane Packaging, eCommerce director Mark Selby at further added: "Our new "Letterboxable" range is a first in the market. It offers multiple benefits for delivery services, online retailers and their consumers. Not only is the packaging fully recyclable, but the tailored design of the range will ensure that deliveries can be made on the first call, thereby reducing multiple delivery attempts and promoting a greener delivery process."
