FFP Packaging Solutions Launches Fcp Guide for Brands and Retailers

UK-based FFP Packaging Solutions has launched a fixed colour palette (FCP) guide for brands and retailers.

The FCP guide has been designed to allow brand managers to select repeatable and achievable colours based on the Pantone library and can be produced with the support of CMYK process ink set.

It helps in the reverse printing on clear PET film in the format of a colour book. Later, it can be laminated to white PET.

The printed film was manufactured on one of FFP’s W&H Miraflex printing presses by using Asahi plates with pinning technology for clean transfer.

The FCP printing will help to remove waste from the value chain and improve cost performance for the final package.

The use of fixed palette of printing inks (CMYK) will result in ink savings, less wash ups and quicker make ready, said Asahi.

Pinning technology for clean transfer allows a clean transfer of ink, helping to prevent ink accumulation on the plate surfaces and shoulders in screen areas.

FFP Packaging Solutions print development manager Paul Hesketh said: “We have been very pleased with the adoption of fixed colour palette (FCP) by key UK retailers, including Asda and Tesco.

“The process of FCP is a growing trend within the printed packaging sector and we have been keen to be involved with brands and retailers as an approved FCP Printer.”

Asahi Photoproducts Europe technical marketing manager Dieter Niederstadt said: “We believe the guide will spur adoption even further, both in the UK and throughout Europe, making it easier for stakeholders to quickly determine when fixed colour palette printing is appropriate.”

FFP Packaging Solutions produces flexible packaging products and services, including Esterpeel specialized lidding film for ready-made meals packaged in C-PET, A-PET, rPET and others, as well as Estercook heat-resistant packaging for cooking packaged foods in the oven or microwave.
