Argentina’s crude steel production increased 0.3 percent year-over-year in September to 463,800 mt, according to the country’s steel chamber, CAA .
Meanwhile, September crude steel production decreased 0.8 percent month-over-month, CAA said, adding local production has been negatively affected by Chinese imports.
"Chinese finished steel imports continue growing and meet 12 percent of local consumption,” CAA said, referring to Latin America as a whole.
According to CAA, from January to September, crude steel production in Argentina reached 4.1 million mt, up 7.8 percent year-on-year.
Argentinian finished steel production reached 405,500 mt in September, 13.4 percent up year on year and 3.3 percent up month on month.
CAA’s main members include Ternium and Tenaris, which are controlled by Techint, and ArcelorMittal’s Acindar.
