BASF Will Exhibit Its Expertise in Specialty Particle Foams for Packaging Applications

Global chemical company BASF will exhibit its expertise in specialty particle foams for packaging applications at the FachPack trade fair taling place from 24 to 26 September 2013 in Nuremberg.

The company will introduce new molded parts that are made of E-por for the protective packaging of subwoofers made by the Berlin manufacturer Adam Audio.

E-por is an expandable interpolymer (PS/PE) and is tough-elastic, crack-resistant. It displays high energy absorption, and offers a range of properties for the packaging of delicate goods.

Fapack managing director Christoph Behrens said, "We were able to achieve a net volume saving with foam of 40% and thus reduce the overall size of the packaging by 24.5%."

BASF will also introduce other specialty particle foam Neopolen E, an expanded, crosslinked polyethylene (EPE) offered in the form of boards and is used in recyclable packaging and reusable transport containers mainly.

According to the company, the expanded polypropylene Neopolen P is offered in the form of particles in bulk and can be processed to make moldings of a range of various types, shapes as well as colors.

The range is complemented by expanded thermoplastic polyurethane (E-TPU), which the company introduced recently under the brand name Infinergy.
