AGC announced it is establishing a new laminated automotive glass plant in Mexico, which is scheduled to start operations in early 2016. The new plant will be located in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and will produce glass for approximately 750,000 vehicles a year.
AGC’s new subsidiary in Mexico will serve as the company’s third manufacturing base in North America after the Bellefontaine and Elizabethtown plants run by AGC Automotive Americas Co.
Currently, AGC ships products from the U.S. plants to meet Mexican demand.
“Going forward, AGC will have a more improved production system in the region to flexibly respond to the market growth in an effort to further expand its automobile glass business in North America,”officials wrote in a company statement.
