According to Japanese media reports, Nissan Motor Company announced in January 28 that they will hold a strategic cooperative relationship with Germany’s Daimler Motor Company and U.S. Ford Motor Company, in order to accelerate the commercialization of fuel-cell vehicles technology together. They expect to introduce the first new car by 2017. Japanese, American and European auto giants cooperate to research automotive technology together this time, and they aim to publicize fuel-cell vehicles to revive the automobile market.
The hydrogen fuel in the car fuel cell stack and oxygen in the air have the electrochemical reaction, which will release current to provide energy for vehicles. The productions are only steam and heat, which will not pollute the environment. Fuel-cell vehicles are considered as the supplements of battery electric vehicles. Because of the high costs and prices, Daimler’s fuel-cell driven B-Class cars can’t in a large-scale sales. Therefore, Daimler signs a three party agreement with Ford and Nissan. They cooperate to develop a universal fuel cell system, accelerate the publication of zero emissions technology and slash the costs in the future. It forecasts that the first affordable new fuel-cell vehicle will be introduced by 2017.
