Medtronic's Sentrant Introduces Sheath for The Endovascular Repair of Aortic Aneurysms

The European Union (EU) has granted CE mark certification to Medtronic's Sentrant Introducer Sheath for the endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms.

Designed for use with the company's Endurant II AAA and Valiant Captivia Stent Graft Systems and similar devices for endovascular repair, the Sentrant Introducer Sheath includes optimal seal feature for superior hemostasis during the procedure.

The device also includes reinforced coil for proven kink resistance, hydrophilic coating and flexibility for easy tracking through tortuous and calcified iliacs, radiopaque marker band for clear visibility as well as dilator locking mechanism for secure positioning.

The Sentrant Sheath, which is inserted at the access site in the patient's femoral artery, is advanced up into the iliac arteries with the help of the tapered tube that facilitates the implant procedure, enabling smooth passage of the stent graft delivery system and accessory devices en route to the treatment site in the aorta.

The sheath is compatible with the Archer Super Stiff Guidewire and the Reliant Stent Graft Balloon Catheter and made in diameters of 12-26 French and lengths of 28cm and 64cm to accommodate a range of anatomies.

Medtronic said it will showcase its complete portfolio of stent grafts and related accessories at the Charing Cross symposium, which will be held in London from 6-9 April 2013.
