North American printing and label converting company, WS Packaging has invested in second Mark Andy Digital Series hybrid solution to boost production.
Configured to meet the company’s prime label production requirements, the new press is planned to be installed at WS Packaging’s Dallas facility in the US by the end of the year.
The machine will complement the WS Packaging’s existing Digital Series solution, which was commissioned in December 2015.
Mark Andy digital solutions marketing and business development vice-president Ray Dickinson said: “We are standing with our customers with an ongoing customer-supplier relationship that includes training and education, pressroom materials and supplies, rebuilds and upgrades, service contracts, and slitting/rewinding equipment.
“Especially with the new Digital Series, our emphasis is to deliver the process capabilities in terms of man, machine, and materials to ensure our customers’ success.”
Running two 12-hour shifts, the existing Digital Series solution supports the company’s growing customer demands for fast response, short lead times, multiple SKUs, variable data printing, and versioned graphics, Mark Andy said.
The new press is expected to further expand the digital printing capacity of the existing press, which is designed to run anywhere from 350ft to 8000ft with about 25 changeovers in a shift.
WS Packaging Dallas and Phoenix plants general manager Ryan Reding said: “Mark Andy’s Performance Series is a solid piece of flexo equipment, very accessible, and very easy to operate and get people up to speed on.
“With the Digital Series, all of the things we learned about flexo over the years are still applicable; it’s just from this section to this section we are laying down digital ink.”
