Android Nougat Beta Nearly Ready for S7 Edge in The UK

Tags: Android, Samsung

Samsung is reportedly nearly ready to start a slow rollout of Android Nougat for its Galaxy S7 Edge handsets in the UK.

According to a post on XDA Developers Forum, Samsung is about ready to the beta test for people with UK S7 Edge handsets but if you want in, you'll need to download the specific Samsung Galaxy Beta Programme app.

In our testing, this app isn't currently available on the UK Google Play or Samsung Galaxy Store, but it can be directly side-loaded using the APK in the XDA thread (obviously, we take no responsibility for your decision to side-load any apps like this).

While downloading it won't give you access to the new OS just yet, it should give you the best shot of staying informed when it is available - and given that this is a beta programme, it won't be offered to all users that want to be a part of it, so there's an element of luck to being chosen too.

Samsung hasn't given any official details of the beta rollout as yet, but with the Note 7 debacle affecting the brand globally it will want to get the newest version of Android into users' hands as soon as possible. As a result of the recall, Samsung's also now offering a 'Blue Coral' version of the S7 and S7 Edge, which is advertised with images of a Samsung branded mermaid in reference to it being waterproof.

It is unclear whether non-Edge S7 devices will also be included in the beta.
