China's Truking to Buy Majority Stake in Romaco

Chinese engineering firm Truking Group has agreed to acquire 75.1% stake in Romaco Group from German private equity company Deutsche Beteiligungs (DBAG).

Romaco, which employs about 550 people, provides packaging and processing technologies for the pharmaceuticals industry.

The company develops, produces and markets intelligent system solutions to meet needs of customers in the pharmaceutical industry.

Romaco manufactures granulating and coating machines, tablet presses, blister and strip packaging machines and tube filling machines for effervescent tablets.

It also produces end of line equipment, liquid filling and powder dosing machines and tube fillers, in addition to counting devices.

In April 2011, DBAG had acquired Romaco Group from the US firm Robbins & Myers. As a portfolio firm of DBAG, Romaco successfully concluded four transactions between 2011 and 2017.

Romaco’s transactions included the acquisition of Romaco Kilian and Romaco Innojet, as well as integration of Medipac in Romaco Siebler and the sale of its subsidiary FrymaKoruma.

In addition, Romaco opened five sales and service centres in China, France, Russia, Brazil and the US, with the support of DBAG

DBAG board member Dr Rolf Scheffels said: “The sale successfully implements a buy and build concept which we had worked out with management at the very beginning of our involvement.

“DBAG, in its role as a Romaco Group shareholder, played a key part in supporting the strategic development of the corporate group and made a decisive contribution to strengthening Romaco’s worldwide position.”

Truking chairman Yue Tang said: “Romaco will benefit from the change in ownership through an increased share of the Chinese market and Truking will also be able to exploit outstanding opportunities for growth on European and transatlantic markets.”

Established in 2000, Truking manufactures plant and equipment for the customers in the pharmaceuticals industry.
