Better Response is Received by Creative Trends at Texworld

A dynamic business atmosphere and quality visitors

Designers, journalists and buyers appreciated the creativity demonstrated at Texworld in the trends for summer 2014 called Desire. Louis Gerin and Gregory Lamaud, the Artistic Directors, showcased the multi-hued fabrics, where gold and colour dominated, in a large library: an invitation to a celebration which could also well announce the upturn!

“Playful, poetic and brimming with emotions” says Lutz Keller, consultant in the management at the Keller Consultant agency, based in Paris. Visitors who came to attend the lectures about the trends, presented by the Artistic Directors, were pleasantly surprised by an uncharacteristic presentation: they were invited to go the Trends Forum to (re)discover and understand the trends through the dialogue of fabrics and reference objects.

Wayne Govender, a designer based in Cape Town in South Africa expressed his delight with his first experience of Texworld. “I am just discovering Texworld. The Trends are an extremely useful guide for colours and buying.” Maria Jesus Miret, Head of Development at Corte Inglés thinks the Trends become more and more attractive each season at Texworld. She likes their unorthodox spirit.

In our final report you will shortly discover the main products among the new lines for summer 2014, which promises optimism and light.

A dynamic business atmosphere and quality visitors

The Texworld and Apparelsourcing Paris shows assembled some 623 exhibitors. The most significant drop in visitors was from Asia and America. This is due to the exhibition dates coinciding with Chinese New Year and New York Fashion Week, which had an impact on the numbers of American and Asian visitors.

The business atmosphere was full of energy and the satisfaction expressed by exhibitors at Texworld and Apparelsourcing Paris is excellent news for the organisers. Knitted Fabric achieved exceptional levels of satisfaction. The climate was positive, as demonstrated by the many firm registrations and requests for increased floor space as soon as the show had finished. “The upturn!” some said; “customers have exhausted their stocks and are placing orders again” said others.

“We are very satisfied with our orders and the quality of visitors. What is more, we have met with over 25% new customers” says Robert Chan, Director at Eye for Textile, a Belgian linen weaver. Where Apparelsourcing Paris is concerned, Olivier Galeyn, the European agent for Jafferbhoy Meheralli, a producer of leather garments, is very satisfied with orders and the new contacts they have made. When it comes to buyers, Texworld remains an international meeting place for fashion that is not to be missed.

“Texworld is consummately professional. It is an essential rendezvous in Paris with its complementary range” emphasises Jonathan Barban, designer for menswear collections at Lacoste, who came to see his suppliers. Gaspard Yurkievich, a designer, adds “Texworld allows products to be developed and provides opportunities to meet with professionals. I met an Indian silk printer who has suggestions for some extremely interesting possibilities for development. What is more, he is flexible about minimum orders, which is vital for designers.”
