4,118 Specimens Tested 4.9 Percent Tested Positive for Influenza

For the week ending Nov. 2, U.S. influenza activity remained low, but Mississippi reported moderate activity, federal health officials say.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said of 4,118 specimens tested 4.9 percent tested positive for influenza.

The proportion of out-patient visits for influenza-like illness was 1.4 percent, but Mississippi experienced moderate influenza-like illness activity; Arkansas, Kentucky and Louisiana experienced low influenza-like illness activity; 46 states and New York City experienced minimal influenza-like illness activity and the District of Columbia had insufficient data.

Alaska and Alabama reported regional influenza activity; Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia reported local influenza activity and 34 states reported sporadic influenza activity.

No influenza activity was reported by Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont and West Virginia. Topics: Rhode Island
